While Northerners are packing up their garden equipment, you Southern gardeners are just hitting the stride of your second harvest by taking advantage of those several extra warm months. Even if your energy wilted a little in August, an early September planting can yield one last harvest. But stick to hardy short-season vegetables such as carrots, lettuce, radishes or beans-otherwise, all your hard work might go for naught one frosty fall night.
